FAQs

Everything you need to know to get the freshest food around!

Q. How do I pay for my order?

A. By check or cash at pickup. We do not accept payments online.

Q. When is the deadline to order each week?

A. Order by Sunday at midnight for pick-up the following Friday.

Q. When & Where are the pickups?

A. Friday's from 3:30 to 5:30 at the RCiL building at 1607 Genesee St., 2 blocks north of the Parkway. Please use the South entrance, and the elevator down to the lower level.

Q. Should I write out my check before I pick up my purchases?

A. On items like roasts and whole chickens, the price listed is per pound, so the total price is calculated at the time of pick-up base on the actual weight of the item. In some cases, general size parameters of the items are given to help estimate your final cost.

Q. Why do you have so much meat, but not a lot of fruits & vegetables?

A. We only get our food from local farms, which of course means all our produce is seasonal. We are planning to hold classes on food preservation to help you learn to freeze, can & store so you may have an abundance of wonderful nutritious fruits & vegetables all year round.

Q. How can I trust the safety of this food?

A.  Visit the farm who produced it! All our farmers are quite open & hospitable. You as their customer are welcome to visit them, ask questions, and learn about their practices.

Q. I am looking for something specific & don't see it listed. Can I get it?

A. Possibly. Since we are just one small step from the source of food, it is quite possible we have a farmer who can accommodate your request. Just send an email through the contact form, or to foodshedbuyingclub@gmail.com.
